Since, we had been in and around Antalya many times before and had visited almost all the important places around Antalya, we decided to go further apart (to the north) around Burdur and Isparta.
After a 1½ hour trip, we reached Sagalassos, an ancient city on top of a hill between Burdur and Isparta. It is near the village Ağlasun (this is probably a modernized version of the name Sagalassos).
There are fountains, a theater and many other ancient buildings.
Here you see the fountain building...
... And here is the theater.
... and its panoramic view.
More views and a view from the village of Ağlasun.
Here, we met a couple (probably) from a north european country. The lady asked me where I was from. She was surprised, when I told her "I am from Turkey." The second question was whether I was archaeologist or not. This couple used to work in İzmir (Turkey) several years ago and during weekends they used to visit ancient places around İzmir. Their Turkish colleagues were always saying, "What do you find at these old places? There are only 'eski taş' (old stones) there!"
Here you see some more "eski taş."
Tourists in the entrance of Sagalassos:
We left Sagalassos and went to Isparta. This is the birth place of 9th president of Republic of Turkey Süleyman Demirel. You can see him in the second picture below!
After that, we returned to Antalya ending our three-day "solar eclipse trip."
