Sumatra PDF
Most users will use Adobe Reader to open, view and print PDF documents. However, this software is quite large and slow. If you need a quick loading, simple and portable PDF reader, Sumatra PDF will be your good choice. Sumatra PDF can open and display almost all PDF documents with no problem. You can also use it to read eBook (ePub, Mobi), XPS, DjVu, CHM, Comic Book (CBZ and CBR) files.

Open-Shell-Menu
The recent versions of Windows started changing the old and good Start Menu of Windows and making it completely useless and unfriendly. Especially, professional users were feeling being forced to use the OS by a very limited and counter intuitive user interface. Thankfully, Classic Shell and its follow-up Open-Shell-Menu restores several of these usability-oriented Windows user interface (Start Menu, File Explorer, and Internet Explorer) features which were removed. Please note that Classic Shell is no longer actively developed as of December 2017, but Open-Shell-Menu has taken over.

VeraCrypt
Veracrypt is the new version of the very successful, but discontinued TrueCrypt utility used for on-the-fly disk encryption. It can create a virtual encrypted disk within a file or encrypt a partition or (under Microsoft Windows except Windows 8 with GPT) the entire storage device (pre-boot authentication). I generally use TrueCrypt to encrypt my external (small USB) disks which can easily be lost or stolen.

LUKS
After switching to Linux, I started using LUKS for whole disk encryption.
